3637 - Padua (black)

Tube-lining: Black
Enamels & Lustres: Scarlet, black, & orange
Glaze: Mottled blown brown
Frequency Ranking: Rare
Design Date: 1934
Production Period: 1934
Pattern Name: The name Padua is explicitly recorded in the pattern book

This version of Padua has been seen once on an auction website. The shape and condition of the painting appears to be the same as the example in the Bumpus book so it may be the only known example in circulation.

Two other versions of the same design exist in the pattern book - but there are no known examples.:
  • 3775 has black slip tube-lining, Victoria green bands at top and base rims of vases, green handles and insides. Leaves are alternating left blank with under glaze yellow enamel.
  • 3776 appears to have shaded blue ground, mauve where scarlet is on 3636, and orange bands and scarlet flames in the leaves, like the opposite of 3637.
