A simple design and one probably created to take over from 4903 as
the low cost pattern in the tube-lined range. Britain would have been at
war by the time this pattern was in production yet it
remained a strong seller until the restrictions on decorated pottery
were introduced in the summer of 1942.
Although there is a high proportion of unsigned items with the AGR5 backstamp style, no evidence has been found that production occurred after Charlotte departed Richardsons. Many of the of the unsigned items still have the tube-liners marks and the design is not seen on the Crown Ducal modern shapes produced post war.
Details for glaze No.79 are recorded in the pattern book as “White matt ground mottled with mushroom, beige, yellow and fox brown”
