Glaze: Nos. 64/65
Frequency Ranking: Rare
Design Date: 1938
Production Period: 1938.
Pattern Name: The name Tube-Lined Check is used in the pattern book and the book detailing some of the Crown Ducal glazes.
It would be fair to say that this design is not conventional Charlotte Rhead style either by her Crown Ducal standards or in comparison with her craft from the other companies she worked for. Bernard Bumpus described how she "took great interest in the decorative effect of glazes and lustres" and perhaps at this time she had a desire to explore where her creativity with glazes would take her.
The glaze No.64 mentioned in the pattern book and No.65 which is similar, are described as snow glaze mottle on Harrisons scarlet and Harrisons oyster. For No.64 Blythe green decorates the inside of vases and the lower part of the outside. For No.65 Blythe green decorates the inside only.
This design is ranked as rare but may end up creeping into the top 50 ranking in a future review to displace the just as rare Arabian Scroll on green glaze pattern 4925.
